the colors of nature

The past few mornings on my way to work, I've seen some amazing natural sites. Tuesday morning, I saw a Tom turkey spreading his feathers and putting on a show for some of his ladies. It really was a beautiful site. Wednesday morning out of the corner of my eye, I spied a coyote skulking through the apple trees. What would normally be a very scary site, it was striking to see how majestic a scavenger can be in the right setting. Yesterday I was startled to see a huge red tail hawk sitting in the tree above my truck as I was leaving for work. They are a common site in our area, but to see it so close and unobstructed, amazing. This morning my eyes were distracted by what I thought was another turkey in the distance, but as I got closer and it turned into the light, i was immediately enchanted by the reds and greens of a male pheasant chilling in one local farms fallow fields.

How can one not be inspired by the Hudson Valley area of NY? I love how a would-be monotonous drive to work can instantly turn into something more facinating and beautiful.
