Friday Ha Ha

In my profession, I have to deal with printers and mail processing centers on a regular basis. We recently had sent a consumer loan job out to be printed which then needed to be shipped to a processing center in the mid-west. The processing center has very strict rules and has a 2 page detailed spec sheet on how materials need to be printed and received. Today we received an email from the processing center saying that they rejected the insert because of nesting.

This is how it looked (obviously names not shown):
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have received notification from (Blank) warehouse of a shipment received 03/06/08 from (Printer) for (Us) that is being held in Pre Receipt Hold due to:

M-92777 (3516/5000) Inserts are nesting Qty: 1x5000

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This email was sent to the VP of the loan division, to the loan manager who was in charge of the promotion and to my analyst who was the project manager on this insert.
The VP emailed back very quickly and apologized for the problem and said that we would arrange for the inserts to be returned to the printer and to let him know if there were any damages.

I hear my co-worker say “Damages? What damages could result from a nested insert?” A few minutes go by and then she gets a phone call from the VP. Apparently someone didn’t have their glasses on and misread the reason why they were rejected. They thought it said “Insects are nesting”. Imagine the things that must have been going through his head this morning! I couldn’t stop laughing for about 30 minutes.

Yeah. Its days like this that makes me love my job.
