No, not that drama. As many of you know, we’re in the midst of purchasing another house. We’ve passed the binder stage and are proceeding toward signed contracts. Before the house goes into that, we had to have our home inspection done, which we did (found the buried oil tank and the code violation on electric). We had SAE tell the sellers our findings, and we were just waiting patiently for them to respond to our terms (removal of oil-tank & concession for electric).
That was 2 weeks ago. After two deadlines the sellers still can’t agree on what to do. Why? It turns out that there are 3 people on the deed, and 2 of them are ok with our demands and are willing to remove the tank/fix-give us credit for the electric. The remaining party is refusing. It seems that our cute little house is at the middle of a huge family argument. SAE told us that the family is bickering over what percentage of the proceeds from the sale will go each person. What makes it worse is that they are currently in court battling the division of another property that they just sold. SAE believes that is also what’s going to happen to the funds of the sale of this house too.
So, they want more time to convince the remaining party. They are asking for anther week to decide. Seriously, how much time can we give them? It’s getting closer to registration deadline for summer classes and if we do the house remodel this summer we won’t have the time (or money) to devote to the classes. I just want to know how I’m planning my summer. Will it be all about countertops and flooring, an exotic vacation to the Mediterranean or maybe just a new car?
Anyway, tonight Gilday and I are going on a date! It’s been a while since we’ve had the luxury to go to dinner and a movie on a week night. It’s been such a hectic couple weeks for both of us that we think we deserve a break. Homework can wait!
