Can I be a hippie? Not that a hippie is a bad thing, but I never imagined that I’d be one. The facts seem to be piling up against me!
As some of you know, Gilday and I are in the process of gathering information on the possibility of building a house. It’s very exciting as we’re going to attempt to build green. We love the idea of using geothermal heating and having solar technology on the roof to supplement the electric costs. It feels great to be turning our housing efforts into something more eco-friendly and ties in with our current housing hunt. Hippie?
There is a new social group that started up in the Hudson valley where a bunch of people get together once a month and talk about all things green. As we are in the information phase of development (and the next meeting was practically in our back yard) I convinced Gilday to go to one. There were about 40 people there networking, but it didn’t really live up to my expectations. We had a realtor try and pick us up, and I met a woman who was looking for investors in her company and in the process try to pick me up (when she said that my husband needed to socialize on the other side of the room it was pretty apparent). Very hippie.
With my recent foray into the alternative food market for my possible gluten allergy, I awoke over the last week to a whole new direction of food choices. All natural juices, local vegetables, organic meats, allergen free detergents and even all natural bath products are stocking our shelves now. With my own weekly trip to an alternative baker, I’d definitely have to say that’s getting pretty hippie.
Now, to top it all off, I’m now the proud owner of my very own pair of Birkenstocks.
Now to convince Gilday to live with the dogs in a VW Van...
