With both of our Husbands otherwise occupied last night, a friend and I decided to have an impromptu girl’s night with take out and a chick flick at my house. She chose the movie, I chose the take out. Being that she is newly pregnant, I picked the restaurant down the street that has the most amazing sweet potato fries because I knew that they were her favorite, and it was the healthiest of our options. The service is usually hit or miss, but the food is always great. This time, service was pretty quick, but sadly they were out of the sweet potato fries we adored, so we just switched to regular. We settled the tab, and hopped in the truck for the 3 minute ride back to the house.
This comes to the meaning of the post. Have you ever seen a pregnant woman have an intense craving? Seriously. This was my first real experience watching it happen and initially, I thought that maybe she was just really hungry. As soon as we left the restaurant, she was like a starved animal sitting in the passenger seat of the Pathfinder holding the bag of fries up to her nose and sniffing in deeply. The sounds of pleasure she made from the French fry aroma were almost x-rated. She even commented how lucky I was because my truck was going to smell like those French fries when I drove to work the next morning. I think the only time I experienced something close to that was the day we found Sawyer, and he obviously hadn’t eaten for weeks. She was just so funny and jovial at the thought of the fries, I couldn't help but laugh with her all the way home. I'm still laughing as I write this post. The wonders of pregnancy I guess.
I can only imagine her reaction if we had gotten the sweet potato fries…
